MKAY is an artistic creative. He is an events promoter, turntablist and performance DJ who fuses hip-hop, afrobeat, dancehall, dance music and various other genres that are packed with electronic sounds, creating high-energy experiences on the dance floor!

MKAY hails from Eastern Kenya, where he spent most of his childhood. He then went on to attend school in modern-day Eswatini and in the United States of America. It was during his stay in the USA that his journey into music officially began; deejaying at campus events and local entertainment spots in Fayetteville, North Carolina, solidified his passion for entertaining. Although he is currently based in Eswatini, MKAY’s artistic expression is laced with a strong international feel and invites audiences to celebrate the power of music and its ability to slice through our cultural differences and individual preferences in a unified celebration of the human spirit.

DJ MKAY has since expanded his artist portfolio with performances at top entertainment spaces such as Muze in Kenya, CCMA in Mozambique and House On Fire in Eswatini. His career boasts several highlights, including being a resident DJ for 5 years in succession at one of Africa’s top festivals – as pronounced by BBC – MTN Bushfire Festival.

Collaborations are his ultimate guide to growth. MKAY has partnered with other artists under the collective, Motherland X and has also made numerous contributions towards unearthing talent through initiatives such as “The Kitchen” and “MTN Pulse Firefly”.
